Editorial Focus
A biannual compendium of writing from women and gender-diverse people.
Tips From the Editor
The theme of the upcoming (sixth) issue of kerning is "Freedom: Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"
"I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will." ― Charlotte Brontë, "Jane Eyre"
We invite you to share writing that explores liberation in any of its forms—self-determination, migration, escape, anonymity, and other states of being that have centered independence and autonomy. What was the ensnarement that led there, and what tipped the scales into action? And if there was a price to be paid for that freedom, what was the cost?
