The program offers full funding. The program offers teaching assistantships, program assistantships, positions with Mid-American Review, and fellowships.
The program features the College of Arts and Sciences Reading Series. Second-year students have the opportunity to teach creative writing; first-year students teach general composition. Graduate students also have the opportunity to propose panels and workshops for the annual Winter Wheat Festival of Writing, held every November.

The Literature in English Advance Test of the GRE is not required for admission to the program.
