Hyphen is a news and culture magazine, media outlet and community partner, that illuminates Asian America through hard-hitting investigative features on the cultural and political trends shaping the fastest-growing ethnic population in the country.
Tips From the Editor
- Your cover letter should be short and sweet. Avoid giving a detailed synopsis or superlative summary of your piece(s); let your work speak for yourself.
- Asian American themes are not essential. We are much more interested in work that incorporates identity than in work that is about identity. We are looking for work with unique voices, strong imagery, and interesting perspectives.
- We do not accept multiple submissions within the same category for prose. For poetry, you may send up to six poems in a single document. Please wait back before you submit another piece.
- If you are non-Asian, we are really not interested in your story about traipsing through Asia “finding yourself.” Please don’t send it to us.
